About Us

Education, sacrifice, and a legacy of hope.

Jane Matovu Foundation

The Jane Matovu Foundation is rooted in a simple but powerful conviction: education can change the direction of a life, even when a family has very limited means. Its history begins with Jane Matovu, a widowed mother in rural Uganda who made extraordinary sacrifices to educate her five children through university. Her perseverance, community leadership, and belief in education became the inspiration for a Foundation that now seeks to extend similar opportunities to vulnerable children and families.

The Foundation is also shaped by the personal journey of Emmanuel Nsamba, whose path from rural Lwengo District to advanced scientific training in the United States demonstrates what can happen when ability is matched with educational opportunity. His experience deepened the commitment to help talented young people whose ambitions are constrained by poverty rather than potential.

Our mission and vision therefore go beyond paying school fees. We seek lasting transformation through education, mentorship, vocational pathways, family empowerment, and community resilience. We envision a future in which poverty does not determine a child’s prospects, and where families are increasingly equipped to sustain their own children’s education with dignity, responsibility, and hope.
