Although the Jane Matovu Foundation is still young, its mission is rooted in years of personal sacrifice, direct support, and lived experience.

Even before the Foundation was formally established, several students had already been supported using mainly personal funds from a graduate stipend. These early efforts produced powerful success stories that demonstrate what becomes possible when a vulnerable child or young person receives timely educational support. They also show that education is not merely an individual benefit; it can transform families, inspire communities, and create new role models for younger generations.

Several other students are still being supported as they continue their education journeys. Farouk dreams of serving in the military. Charles, an orphaned student who almost became a child labourer abroad, now hopes to become a mechanical engineer. Bridget is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Makerere University Business School. Ronald dreams of becoming a software engineer while helping his mother during school holidays. Trevor, once at risk of dropping out after middle school, is now back in school with renewed hope.
