Our Mission
The Jane Matovu Foundation exists to help break the cycle of poverty in Lwengo District and surrounding communities in southern Uganda by expanding access to quality education for talented children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Inspired by the journey of Emmanuel Nsamba and the sacrifices of the Jane Matovu family, the Foundation is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers. Through scholarships, mentorship, vocational support, and family empowerment initiatives, we seek to create lasting opportunities for children, strengthen vulnerable families, and build resilient communities.
Our Vision
We envision a future where no child’s potential is limited by poverty. The Jane Matovu Foundation was established in 2024 in honour of Jane Matovu, an extraordinary mother, community leader, and passionate advocate for education whose life demonstrates that transforming lives does not require wealth, but sacrifice, commitment, and hope.

Our vision goes beyond scholarships. We believe in holistic transformation: empowering children through education while equipping families with the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to build sustainable futures. In this way, we aim not only to support individual students, but to create lasting generational change.
Our Approach
At the Jane Matovu Foundation, we believe that lasting transformation comes from empowerment, not dependency. While we provide direct educational support to vulnerable children, we also invest in strengthening families and communities so that opportunity becomes sustainable rather than temporary.

This philosophy shapes our working model. We support children in school, mentor young people, help families build livelihoods, and encourage communities to take shared responsibility for education, dignity, and hope.
Our Objectives
Support academically promising children from underprivileged backgrounds through tuition assistance, school requirements, and scholastic materials.
Strengthen vulnerable families, especially women-led households, through income-generating and livelihood initiatives.
Provide skills training for disadvantaged youth and young adults who missed traditional educational opportunities.
Promote social transformation through workshops that encourage responsibility, positive attitudes, and economic resilience.
